Rankin Bass balancing act

Easter Bunny

I always liked it when the Rankin Bass’ characters would balance things on their fingers. I feel like they did it a lot but no one instance sticks out in my brain.

Oh yeah, it happened all the time…. I think Yukon balanced a pick on his finger? I forget… I’ll watch for it next time I see ‘em. I think it’s cause once they were there it was easy to animate.

That’s right, Yukon did do that. I’m sure the Easter Bunny did it with eggs in the Easter Bunny is Coming to Town.
I guess things being stacked and balanced is a fascinating thing for kids. Heck Dr. Seuss used it all the time and even based an entire book on it “Ten Apples up on Top” as written by Theo LeSig and illustrated by Roy Mackie:

I think in Rudolph, the elves (or someone else) balanced a stack of gifts in one hand. And I recall something similar in the opening of Mad Monster Party.
