That computer you use everyday, it’ll never get to ride Thunder Road at Carowinds. It will never get to marvel at the huge naturalness of the Natural Bridge. Nope, it’s stuck there day after day. Working for the man.
Laptops have all the fun, hanging out in Coffee Shops all day. Surfing the net from the living room sofa. Chilling on your lap on a park bench. Unplugged, wireless and free to roam. You can work from anywhere on the planet.
Eventually, you won’t even have to work. You can kick back in your backyard, suspended between 2 trees, on your hammock. Your computer will do the work for you. Except in the future they will not be called computers and there will be no vacation.

My sister came over today and we worked on family collage portraits ah la Claudine Hellmuth. Of course she left before I could scan hers, she did a really great job.

I wished I had spent a little more time on the content of mine. Had some little jokes in there or something. I guess it’s pretty neat even though I phoned it in. I should have printed the faces out darker. Oh well.
Every Thanksgiving Day after all the eating is over, my mom has a little project for us to do. We’ve made miniature snow globes, altered journals and snowmen out of light bulbs.
This year we made Duct Tape Billfolds! Real, functioning billfolds with pockets for your credit cards and money. Some even had clear plastic for your photo idea. We even had several snazzy colors to choose from. It was pretty fun even if we are a couple of years behind the times.

I tricked mine out with a little pin striping of white and blue duct tape.

There are instructions and templates over at MAKE.
Yes I have a sketchbook! I can draw with non-mousey-clicks. No. Really I can, just not very well.
Recently I had to buy a new one and I like to use a square one. But the store I get them from stopped getting them. So I had to special order a couple so I wouldn’t be scrambling again.
Anyway, most of my drawings are usually just random headshots. I try and push myself to make entire bodies. But usually they just end up standing around yelling, running from nothing or holding coffee cups/laser guns.

Every now or then I’ll force myself to draw a scene.

Even more rare, I actually use some color!

I made up these little collage pieces to take to SPACE with me this weekend. I’ll be driving for 9 or so hours with my buddies Andy Runton and Rob Venditti. That’s guaranteed to be the funnest part. Oh, and hanging with Josh Cotter and Rob Ullman all day on Saturday should be extra cool also.
